Sant\u2019Anna and the Maremma region<\/h3>\n

The myth of St. Anne is still alive and important in Tuscan Maremma. She is renowned as the protector of farmers, and she has become patron saint in many villages in Tuscany. Still today the feast of St. Anne is celebrated on July 26th in various parts of the coast of Maremma and during this day people rest from work in the fields.<\/p>\n

The Accesa Lake in Massa Marittima<\/h3>\n

This very popular legend tells that where we can find now the Accesa Lake, was originally a small village of farmers who cultivated the lands of the owner of the area. The owner, attracted by the potential crop, forced his servants to work even on July 26, the feast of St. Anne. That same day, a calamity fell on all the land during lunchtime and gave place to a chasm where now the Accesa Lake is.<\/p>\n

Buriano\u2019s dragon<\/h3>\n

A spring in Buriano area was threatened by a huge dragon but thanks to the intervention of Saint William and his sword, the source was liberated from the dangerous dragon, giving holiness back to the source and comfort to men who felt safe again.
